DOH hopes Manila Bay incident will not happen again
September 21, 2020
The Department of Health (DOH) has expressed hopes that hordes will not flock to Manila Bay to witness the white sand beach where physical distancing was virtually non-existent.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said mass gatherings pose danger as COVID-19 persists.
"This is a worrisome situation because we all know that the virus is still here with us," said Vergeire.
"We need to constantly remind our countrymen that it is a dangerous situation because there could be transmission of the virus if minimum health standards are not enforced," said Vergeire.
Over the weekend, people flocked the Manila Bay to get a closer view of the controversial "white sand" project.
Images that circulated on social media saw people standing next to one another at Roxas Boulevard. DMS
