DOH reports 1,061 new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,061 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, bringing total cases to 435, 413 on Thursday.
Active cases reached 27, 642 of which 85.2 percent are mild. Asymptomatic cases account for 6.9 percent, with five percent critical, 2.6 percent severe and 0.29 percent moderate.
Davao City and Quezon City, both with 92, led cities and provinces with the most number of COVID-19 for the day. Rizal followed with 50, Pampanga 44 and Quezon Province 43.
Ten persons died from COVID-19 to bring total deaths to 8, 446. There were 328 persons who overcame COVID-19 to raise total recoveries to 399, 325.
Meanwhile, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said the DOH has set aside over 200 hospital beds in areas with high number of COVID-19 as it anticipates potential increase post-holiday cases.
Duque said a total of 235 COVID-19 beds were allocated in Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Davao Region, and the National Capital Region (NCR).
"As the holiday season poses a potential increase in cases, we will not let our guards down. We are unequivocally prepared for any circumstances that this Yuletide season may bring," said Duque.
In NCR, 80 additional beds were dedicated in public hospitals, while 65 more beds were pledged to private hospitals. DMS
