DOH reports 2,200 new COVID-19 cases; NCR accounts for 1,546

New coronavirus disease ( COVID-19) cases reached 2,200, with 1,546 coming from the National Capital Region, the Department of Health ( DOH) said Thursday.
Total cases are now at 74,390, of which 48,136 are active, the DOH added. The DOH said 90.1 percent of these cases are mild, nine percent are asymptomatic, 0.5 percent severe and 0.4 percent critical.
Following NCR on new cases are Cebu, 246; Laguna 83; Rizal 61 and Cavite 48.
Twenty-eight persons died from COVID-19 for a total of 1,871 fatalities. Twenty-one deaths were in Central Visayas with seven from NCR.
However, twenty six deaths occurred in July, one in May and one in April.
Seven hundred and sixty patients overcame COVID-19, raising total recoveries at 24, 383. DMS
