DOH reports 3,462 new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) Wednesday reported 3,462 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, a day after a record number of 6, 352 infections.
The total number of cases is now at 115,980. Active cases are 47, 587 of which 91.4 percent are mild. 7.3 percent asymptomatic, severe 0.8 percent and critical 0.5 percent.
Of the new cases, majority came from the National Capital Region (NCR) with 2,434.
Nine deaths from COVID-19 were reported, bringing fatalities to 2, 123.
There were four deaths each in NCR and Central Visayas , with one from Davao Region. Eight of the deaths took place in July and one in June.
Two hundred and twenty-two persons overcame COVID-19, raising total recoveries to 66,270. DMS
