DOH reports two firecracker-related injuries as monitoring period starts

Twenty four hours after it began monitoring firecracker- related injuries, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded two incidents.
DOH data on Sunday showed that two cases were reported by sentinel hospitals from December 21 (6 am) until December 22 (5:59 am).
The two cases were a 23-year-old male from the National Capital Region reported by the Philippine General Hospital; and a four-year-old female from Cagayan Valley reported by the Southern Isabela Medical Center.
The two injuries were caused by kwitis and an unknown firecracker. Both were reported as burn injuries without amputation.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III urged public health hospitals to remain on alert.
"We will go on Code White Alert during this time to ensure the readiness of hospitals, medical supplies, and human health resources," said Duque. DMS
