Don’t expect P200 monthly subsidy, labor union tells minimum wage earners
July 2, 2018
A labor group said Monday workers should not expect the government's economic managers to approve a P200 monthly subsidy to minimum wage earners proposed by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
In a statement, Associated Labor Unions spokesman Alan Tanjusay said: "We expect the economic managers recommend to President Rodrigo Duterte to turn it down." Tanjusay said ALU has 400,000 members in agriculture, services and manufacturing nationwide.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said they are considering to give a P200 monthly subsidy to an estimated 4.1 million minimum wage earners.
In April 2017, ALU submitted to Duterte a proposed provision of monthly cash vouchers for minimum wage earners with an amount of P500. DMS
