Government forces apprehended a drug suspect and seized more than four million pesos worth of suspected shabu in a checkpoint operation in Sirawan, Davao City.
Capt. Jonathan Zata, Armed Forces of Philippines (AFP) public affairs chief, said the suspect identified as a certain Erl Cesar Camiso, 19, of Nabunturan, Davao De Oro was apprehended after the alleged drugs were found in his possession on Wednesday afternoon.
"Intercepted from his possession were five jumbo size and one small heat-sealed plastic transparent sachets of suspected 'methamphetamine hydrochloride' or commonly known as 'shabu' with an estimated weight of 255 grams and an estimated street value of P 4,080,000," he said.
Camiso was on board a Toyota Vios, color maroon, with plate number NBU 3017 traveling from Cotabato City to Nabunturan, Davao De Oro when he tried to slip past the checkpoint.
This prompted the Task Force Davao personnel for thorough inspection at the inspection area for private vehicles, Zata added.
This year, in support to the anti-illegal drugs campaign, Task Force Davao's recapitulation of the apprehended illegal drugs at checkpoints amounted to P 14,065,000 involving 77 persons, Zata said.
Zata said these anti-illegal drug operations were '' professionally performed with zero fatality and no allegation of human rights violation." Robina Asido/DMS
