Duque asks typhoon-affected LGUs to designate safety officers in evacuation centers
November 1, 2020
Health Secretary Francisco Duque urged on Sunday the local government units to designate "safety officers" in various evacuation centers where typhoon-displaced families are temporarily staying.
In the meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Duque said individuals who are in evacuation centers should continue to observe the minimum health standards to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
"Designate safety officer in evacuation centers. If possible, limit the number of people inside the evacuation centers. But if it could not be avoided, we should double our precaution,"
he said.
According to Executive Director Ricardo Jalad, 96,543 families or 346,993 individuals are affected and preemptively evacuated from 12 regions in the country due to Super Typhoon "Rolly." DMS
