Duterte calls Cayetano, Velasco in a meeting in Malacanang

President Rodrigo Duterte has called in Malacanang Taguig City Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano and Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco in a meeting in Malacanang today amid their dispute over House speakership.

In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the agenda of the meeting is the passage of the proposed 2021 national budget.

He said the President wants the immediate passage of the General Appropriations Bill in order to finance the coronavirus disease responses for next year.

Cayetano and Velasco have been engaged in the speakership squabble.

Velasco was installed as the new Speaker during a session held outside the House of Representatives on Monday.

Cayetano claimed Velasco's election was fake as he insisted that he remains as the Speaker. Celerina Monte/DMS
