Duterte hits Rappler anew
January 16, 2018
President Rodrigo Duterte slammed on Tuesday news website Rappler, saying "he who comes to equity must come with clean hands."
In a speech in Pasay City, Duterte denied having a hand in the decision of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to revoke Rappler's registration.
"We never had a hand and I don’t give a shit if you continue or not continue with your network," he said.
"We never had a hand of --- except those people who have been attacking us below the belt...," he added.
SEC ordered Rappler's revocation of license for allegedly violating the Constitutional provision that mass media should be wholly Filipino-owned.
Rappler has been critical of the Duterte administration.
"He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. If you are trying to, you know, throw garbage at us, then the least that we can do to explain is how about you? Are you also clean?," Duterte said. Celerina Monte/DMS
