Duterte may sign into law Bayanihan 2 extension, 2021 budget on Monday
December 28, 2020
President Rodrigo Duterte may sign into law the enrolled bill extending the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or Bayanihan 2, along with the proposed P4.5 trillion budget for next year in a ceremony in Malacanang later Monday.
"It's possible that it will be signed this afternoon," said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque in a televised press briefing when asked if the extension on Bayanihan 2 could also be signed by Duterte.
Once approved into law, some P38 billion unspent funds under the Bayanihan 2 could be available until June 30, 2021 after the law expired on December 19 this year.
Roque refused to divulge the possible items in the 2021 GAA that Duterte may veto.
Only a number of senators and congressmen were invited to attend the signing ceremony amid the coronavirus pandemic. Celerina Monte/DMS
