Duterte names appellate court justice as Comelec commissioner
April 19, 2018
President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Socorro Inting as a commissioner of the Commission on Elections.
Inting, a Court of Appeals associate justice, replaced Arthur Lim whose term expired last February.
Her appointment paper was signed on April 17 and her term will expire on February 2, 2025.
Duterte also appointed lawyer Manuelito Luna as a commissioner of the Presidential Anti-Graft Commission under the Office of the President.
Luna was one of those who filed a complaint, calling for the removal from office of Overall Deputy Ombudsman Arthur Carandang before the Office of the Executive Secretary.
Carandang was the head of the fact-finding team that tried to investigate Duterte's alleged ill-gotten wealth on complaint of opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
The complaint against Duterte's alleged ill-gotten wealth was dismissed by the Ombudsman after the Anti-Money Laundering Council refused to provide information of Duterte's alleged bank transactions. Celerina Monte/DMS
