Duterte names Hernando associate justice of Supreme Court
October 10, 2018
President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday has appointed Court of Appeals Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando to the Supreme Court.
The 52-year-old Hernando, who also graduated from the San Beda law school like Duterte, became the High Tribunal's newest associate justice. The position was left vacant when Associate Justice Samuel Martires was named Ombudsman.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra, an ex-officio member of the Judicial and Bar Council, confirmed Hernando’s appointment.
Hernando, known in the appeals court for having zero backlog, is the sixth associate justice appointed by Duterte in the Supreme Court. DMS
