Duterte names SC justice’s daughter as trial court judge

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed as regional trial court judge a daughter of Supreme Court Associate Justice Lucas Bersamin.

The appointment paper of Pia Cristina B. Bersamin-Embuscado was signed on Oct. 27 last year, it was only released to the media on Monday.

She was named as the judge of Las Pinas City regional trial court.

Duterte also appointed Jose Arturo Garcia Jr. as the general manager of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.  He replaced Thomas Orbos, who is an undersecretary of DOTr.

Prior to Garcia's permanent appointment to MMDA, Orbos was DOTr undersecretary and MMDA general manager.

Former National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Assistant Director-General Ruben Reinoso Jr. was appointed as undersecretary of the Department of Transportation.

His appointment is co-terminus with DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade.

Reinoso was replaced by Jonathan Luna Uy, a career official in NEDA.

Allen Arat Capuyan was named as presidential adviser for indigenous people's concerns, with the rank of undersecretary under the Office of the President. Celerina Monte/DMS
