Duterte offers reward for tipsters vs corruption in gov’t

November 11, 2020

President Rodrigo Duterte has offered cash reward for those who could give information about the anomalous transactions in government.

In a taped televised message on Tuesday night, Duterte said he would give P50,000 or P100,000 to the tipsters whose identity would remain secret.

"Those who do not have work, those who are casual (employees) for so many years already, all you have to do is to let me know and I will give you a prize. If it's a big syndicate, ghost project of the director, son of a b****, I will give you P50,000. Just whisper it to me," he said, adding that the information could also be relayed either to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque or Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III.

He said the tipster does not need to tell the name of the person involved, only the anomalous contract.

"If a huge contract, don't tell your name. Just whisper that it's being cooked up. I'll give you 100,000 (pesos) and I will keep your identity secret until I reach my grave. I won't disclose your name," Duterte said.

In case the tipster would be harassed, Duterte said he or she could tell him.

"I will deal with the devil. That's what I like, to shoot the person legally. That's why, if you're being threatened, let me know. I would be happy to make you happy," he added.

In the same public talk, Duterte mentioned several names who were either suspended, dismissed or facing criminal or administrative charges for alleged corruption in government.

The alleged erring employees came from the Bureau of Immigration, Department of Public Works and Highways, and Local Water Utilities Administration.
