May 5, 2020
President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the inclusion of Albay province and Zamboanga City in the list of areas placed under the enhanced community quarantine until May 15.
In the memorandum issued on May 2, Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea, by order of the President, said the ECQ is implemented in the "entire geographic area encompassed by the boundaries of Albay province and Zamboanga City."
The enforcement of ECQ in Albay and Zamboanga City was made following the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and pursuant to Republic Act No. 11469 or the Bayanihan Heal as One Act and other pertinent proclamations and executive order.
The other places which are under ECQ wherein the movement of the people are restricted and most businesses are still not operational are Metro Manila; Region III or Central Luzon except Aurora province; Region IV-A or Calabarzon; Pangasinan; Benguet; Iloilo, including Iloilo City; Cebu, including Cebu City; Bacolod City; and Davao City.
The areas under ECQ have high cases of coronavirus disease. Celerina Monte/DMS
