Duterte orders revamp in BIR
January 5, 2021
President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Caesar Dulay to reshuffle the employees in the agency.
He made the directive after disclosing the names of some BIR personnel who were dismissed or have pending cases.
"Here, in BIR, I'd like to request Atty. Dulay in BIR, you reshuffle (the staff). Reshuffle the people and give me the list. And I will review if...it would promote the service of these people to the country," he said during his televised message on Monday night.
He also said that those whose reputation could be in question should not be given any assignment.
Duterte also made the same directive to Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar to implement a revamp in the agency.
"Submit to me the persons assigned to other places and I will review it and I will maybe reconfigure," he said.
Duterte has vowed to focus on corruption issues during the remaining years of his term. Celerina Monte/DMS
