Duterte to address nation Monday night for possible new quarantine classifications

October 26, 2020

President Rodrigo Duterte is set to address the nation on Monday night for the possible disclosure of new quarantine classifications in various parts of the country for the month of November.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, in a televised press briefing, said Duterte will give his statement from Davao City.

"We will not be able to join the President because the airport of Davao was closed to all incoming flights," he said.

However, Duterte's meeting with some members of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases will push through on Monday night via Zoom before his televised address.

"We expect that the members of the Cabinet will make a report, especially on the quarantine classifications," added Roque, also the spokesman of the IATF.

The current quarantine classifications are effective until October 31.

Metro Manila mayors, in particular, earlier proposed that the National Capital Region be remained under the general community quarantine but with relaxation of some restrictions until December 31 to contain the spread of coronavirus disease.

In the "Laging Handa" press briefing on Monday, Senator Christopher "Bong" Go said Duterte is studying the proposal of the Metro Manila mayors. Celerina Monte/DMS
