Duterte to kill cops involved in drugs, other crimes

President Rodrigo Duterte warned on Tuesday to kill erring cops if they continue to be engaged in illegal activities.

Duterte issued the warning during the presentation to him in Malacanang of some 100 policemen assigned in the National Capital Region, Central Luzon and Calabarzon.

The cops are facing various charges, such as kidnapping, rape, robbery, extortion, illegal drugs,  serious illegal detention, grave misconduct, neglect of duty, and other irregularities.

"I will review your cases. You who have been involved in a drug syndicate, syndicate in corruption, I have  a special unit to monitor you and once you commit even a small mistake, I will order to kill you," said Duterte, whose speech was full of expletives.

He wondered why the policemen presented to him entered the Philippine National Police, saying that the profession is only reserved for those who love the country and who want to serve the people.

He said if he would not kill those erring cops, the country would become useless.

He also wondered how the government would defeat the communist New People's Army if the cops were also doing what the rebels have been doing.

Last year, those policemen who had also facing various criminal and administrative cases were presented to Duterte. Most of them were reassigned in Mindanao. Celerina Monte/DMS
