May 20, 2020
President Rodrigo Duterte has urged the parents to have their children vaccinated against other infections amid the absence yet of treatment on coronavirus disease.
In a televised meeting with some members of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases on Tuesday night, Duterte cited that kids should have vaccines against tetanus, diphtheria and flu, among others.
He said once a person acquired any of those infections, it could be deadly.
"There are (parents) in the provinces that do not want their children vaccinated. Kindly, the the mothers as well as the fathers should see to it that your children are vaccinated by (anti) tetanus, diptheria, if they have cough," he said.
He said like those illnesses, COVID-19, even if there would be vaccine in the future, would remain. Celerina Monte/DMS
