Espenido not afraid of Parojinogs
August 17, 2017
Senior Inspector Jovie Espenido, Ozamiz City police chief, on Thursday said he does not fear the retaliation of the supporters of the Parojinog clan.
“We are not afraid of that. If they want, then its better at least we can show that police officers are not cowards”, he said in a press conference aired on television.
Espenido called barangay captains in Ozamiz the “goons” of late city mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr.
“You will be a (barangay) captain if you are goons of mayor. There is no election here, that is the truth. The captains are just like mayor”, Espenido said..
Philippine National Police Director General Ronald Dela Rosa, who also arrived in Ozamiz, said Espenido will stay as the Ozamiz police chief.
Parojinog and 15 others were killed in their house on July 30 after police tried to implement a search warrant. Police said they were fired upon and they had to choice but to defend themselves.
Espenido said barangay captains and officials in Ozamiz City surrendered their firearms to the police. Alanna Ambi/DMS
