Former Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman Sixto Brillantes' family has been asking prayers for him as he is currently "intubated" due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection.
"Someone recently told me that prayers are better when they are specific. Please include our dad, Sixto Brillantes Jr., in your prayers. Please," said Zeena, Brillantes' daughter on her Facebook page.
"#COVIDay11 #IntubationDay1 #PleasePapa," she added.
Brillantes' former chief of staff at the Commission, Atty. Emil Marañon, confirmed that the 80-year old ex-Comelec chief is afflicted with COVID-19.
"My old boss, mentor, and second father, Sixto Brillantes Jr., was diagnosed with COVID-19 and he badly needs our prayer," said Marañon on Twitter.
Former President Benigno Aquino III appointed Brillantes, a known election lawyer, as Comelec chief from January 2011 to February 2015. DMS
