March 26, 2018
A former congressman who was a political ally of the late President Ferdinand Marcos died Monday morning at the St. Luke’s Medical Center, his son said.
In a Facebook post, Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Kris Ablan said his father, ex-Ilocos Norte Rep. Roque Ablan Jr., 85, passed away.
"My dad passed away peacefully this morning. Lucky to be at his bedside when he died," said Kris.
Ablan, an eight-term lawmaker, served as congressman of the first district of Ilocos Norte from 1968 to 1998, and from 2001 to 2010.
The House of Representatives flew the Philippine flag at half-mast to mourn the passing of Ablan. DMS
