Ex-cop, wife shot in Tondo

A former police officer was shot dead in Tondo on Thursday morning.
In a report, Manila Police District (MPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) homicide section identified the victim as Dranreb Cipriano, 48, former police officer residing at 406 Lallana street Velasquez, Tondo
Based on initial report the shooting took place along Vitas Street near Deca Homes in Balut around 9:10 am.
Cipriano and his wife Vivian were traversing Vitas St. on board a single motorcycle when a gunman fired successive shots against Cipriano.
"Immediately suspect fled towards Ugbo St. on board unknown motorcycle and made good of his escape," the report stated.
Cipriano died from multiple gun shots while his wife was brought to the Tondo General Hospital by concerned citizens.
Police recovered two bullets, six pieces of fired cartridge cases, one Berretta pistol loaded with one live ammunition in its chamber and one magazine loaded with 14 live ammunition.
The MPD said Cipriano "was last assigned at MPD Police Station (PS-7) as per Special Order 150 dated May 10, 2012 and was reassigned to PRO-5 as per National Headquarters SO 3205 dated June 21, 2013."
It added that Police Staff Sergeant Marlon Cipriano Jr, cousin of the victim disclosed that the victim is on AWOL status after he was transferred to PRO-5. '' This information is yet to be validated as of this report,"it said. Robina Asido/DMS
