Expect more COVID-19 cases, says DOH
April 30, 2020
The Department of Health (DOH) said the country should still expect coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases to rise.
In a virtual press conference, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said : "It's quite risky for us to declare now that we really are plateauing, and that we really are reaching that peak. We aren't there yet."
"Cases will surely still increase in the coming days," she added.
She said they are expecting expanded testing to make itself felt.
"We are doing expanded testing in different areas of the country. So we expect numbers to increase because of this, as we are able to detect more cases," she explained.
The DOH said the country has a capacity of 6,300 tests per day, lower than the target of 8,000 daily by end of April. DMS
