Extension of lockdown after April 30 “fake news” – Nograles
April 12, 2020
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) on Sunday said social media posts about extension of lockdown after April 30 are “fake news”.
“That is not true. That is another fake news,” Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said in a virtual presser.
Nograles said the IATF has not yet discussed the matter.
“That is not true that the IATF already decided to extend (the lockdown),” he said.
President Rodrigo Duterte last week approved the recommendation of the IATF to extend the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon, including Metro Manila, until April 30 to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease in the country.
The ECQ was supposed to be lifted midnight of April 13.
Nograles reminded the public to be careful in posting fake news.
“Our efforts to contain the COVID-19 outbreak must be complimented by our effort to contain misinformation, disinformation especially on news involving our health; about possible remedies for the diseases and similar unsubstantiated claims,” he said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
