Faeldon says Ombudsman graft charge against him is “ridiculous”
May 2, 2018
Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Deputy Administrator Nicanor Faeldon said filing of graft charges by the Ombudsman for involvement in the P6.4 billion shabu smuggling case in 2017 against him is "ridiculous"
"The commissioner does not even have a knowledge if there are commodities that were released, but when it was released by a collector in a port and the information reached my office that there are shabu released in the country, I find it and arrest in three and a half hours. Even China commended me. Why they will charge me, it is completely ridiculous," he said.
"If they pursue the case it is good but really it is ridiculous for those who will think that I culpable of graft," he added.
Faeldon give his comment after the Office of the Ombudsman recommended the filling of graft and illegal drug charges against the former customs commissioner,
Faeldon said that instead of filing charges against him, he deserved an award or recognition for what he did.
"That is very clear. It's not my responsibility... The law is very clear that is the responsibility, authority of the collectors when the imports were brought," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
