May 20, 2018
An flyover, which was undergoing construction, in Imus City, Cavite collapsed after one of its beams was hit by a crane Saturday evening.
Report from Philippine Red Cross said the incident transpired at around 11:40pm when the flyover being constructed at Aguinaldo Highway corner Daang Hari Road fell.
According to Imus City Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi, the construction of the flyover was a project by the Department of Public Works and Highway.
No casualties were reported due to the incident.
"A traffic enforcer was able to escape while the driver jumped out of the truck," Maliksi said in a radio interview.
He said the contractor was placing the sixth beam but since it was not perfectly aligned, it fell when the crane accidentally hit the capping beam that caused a domino effect.
Clearing operations were underway.
Maliksi asked the people to avoid the area and instead take alternative routes for the meantime. Ella Dionisio/DMS
