LA TRINIDAD- Former Benguet Electric Cooperative (Beneco) manager Gerardo Verzosa was found unconscious at the front passenger seat of his vehicle parked at their compound here and declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
Benguet police said Verzosa retired from Beneco this April.
Quoting relatives, police said a Sig Sauer P220 caliber 45 pistol fell when his wife opened the car. The wife placed the pistol on top of the sink outside his house.
Verzosa’s wife rushed her husband to the Pines City Doctors Hospital in Baguio City where he was declared dead on arrival.
The pistol, police investigators said, has been turned over to the regional crime laboratory while an autopsy was performed Wednesday night. A spent shell was stuck at the chamber.
Verzosa is being tried at the Sandiganbayan in connection with alleged irregular electrification of a barangay in Kalinga which is not a franchise area of Beneco. DMS
