Former Marawi City mayor arrested for rebellion

The former mayor of Marawi City was arrested by authorities in a checkpoint operation in Misamis Oriental Wednesday night, police said. In a police report, Villanueva Municipal Police Station identified the arrested suspect as Fahad Salic, 57 a resident of Brgy. Kabingan, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur. The report said Salic was on a vehicle with four unidentified passengers when he was arrested in a checkpoint of police and military forces at the vicinity of Brgy San Martin, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental around 6:30 pm. The suspect was arrested by virtue of the Arrest Order No. 2, for violation of Art. 134 for rebellion under the Revised Penal Code, issued by the Department of National Defense (DND) dated June 5, 2017 and signed by the Martial Law Administrator, Secretary Delfin Lorenzana. Salic was placed under the custody of Villanueva Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and documentation. Troops also confiscated Salic’s white Ford Ranger. (Robina Asido/DMS)
