Former PNP intel chief discharged from official, one general in ”coma”

The Philippine National Police ( PNP) former director for intelligence, one police generals involved in a helicopter crash in Laguna last March has been discharged from the hospital, according to a police official on Friday.
Lt. General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, PNP Deputy Chief for Administration, said Major General Mariel Magaway was released from Asian Hospital Medical Center last May 21.
As for the status of PNP Director for Comptrollership Major General Jose Maria Ramos, Cascolan said he remains in “ ''coma”.
Cascolan said Magaway will undergo therapy for his full recovery.
“We met him in his home around 10am… He will complete his therapy in two weeks. He can now speak and walk but of course. Since he is in hospital for months, he still being assisted,” he said.
“His memory is good. He remembers everything,” he added.
Cascolan said the PNP and doctors will evaluate if Magaway can still return to police service.
“He will have to be evaluated but at the same time with will be the chief PNP’s (Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa) decision... but I’m positive he can still hold a post (in the organization),” Cascolan said.
The two generals were with Gamboa, his aide de camp, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, two pilots and one crew when the helicopter they were riding crashed after hitting a high tension wire in Laguna last March 5.
Gamboa and Banac sustained injuries but returned to duty after a few days. Ella Dionisio/DMS
