Four, including a soldier, killed in encounter with alleged NPAs in Negros Occidental

Four people, including a soldier, were killed while at least two were wounded in a 3-minute firefight with alleged members of the New People's Army (NPA) in Negros Occidental on Thursday.
Major Gen. Dinoh Dolina, commander of the Army's 3rd Infantry Division, said troops under 62nd Infantry Battalion encountered around 20 NPAs at
So Boyuron, Brgy Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental around 2 pm.
"After receiving several reports from civilians regarding the presence of NPAs, the troops of 62nd IB immediately conducted combat operation in the area," he said.
"While the troops were assaulting the NPA position, they engaged them in a fierce firefight at short distance," he added.
Dolina said troops recovered empty shells and components of improvised anti-personnel landmine while clearing the encounter site.
"The 62nd IB dispatched additional troops to conduct pursuit operations against the said armed group and are still in the area," he added. Robina Asido/DMS
