August 31, 2020
As the country celebrates the National Heroes’ Day, the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said frontliners are showing the true meaning of heroism as the country is facing challenges due to COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement, Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said doctors, nurses, and all medical professionals are practicing the essence of being heroes as they lead the fight against COVID-19.
Gamboa added police officers can also be considered as modern heroes for sacrificing their lives in serving the country.
“Also heroes are the other frontliners who are working for the sake of the people and for preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the community,” he said.
The PNP chief assured that they will continue to maintainpeace, order and progressive community as they remember the lessons left by the country’s national heroes such as Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, and General Antonio Luna.
“Just like our heroes, the PNP will not hesitate to maintain the peace and order in the country and will always prevent crime, illegal drug, terrorism, and other illegal activities that caused trouble,” he said.
“The entire ranks of the PNP hopes the spirit of nationalism and unity will prevail on National Heroes’ Day,” Gamboa added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
