Gamboa says he will work as long as gov’t needs him

The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said he will just continue working as long as the government needs him.
This was the reply of Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa when asked about his plans once he reaches compulsory retirement on September 2.
“It’s like when I was an officer-in-charge (OIC) , (I was asked) ‘Sir are you the chief?’… I will just work and I submit to the wisdom of the President (Rodrigo Duterte) or to other people on what they want to do… I am here at the disposal of government,” Gamboa said in a TV interview.
Gamboa was mum when asked if he will be extended or become the next National Bureau of Investigation director.
“I don’t want to comment. I will just work up to the time when I am needed,” he said.
Gamboa belongs to the Philippine Military Academy "Sinagtala" Class of 1986 and became the 21st PNP chief last October 2019. Ella Dionisio/DMS
