Gapay leads celebration of Army Aviation Regiment

Army chief Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay led the celebration of the Army Aviation “Hiraya” Regiment in Nueva Ecija on Monday.
Col. Ramon Zagala, Army spokesman, said the first activation anniversary of Army Aviation Regiment with the theme “Hiraya: Kaagapay sa Katuparan ng Modernong Hukbong Katihan Tungo sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran” was held at the Headquarters Aviation Regiment in Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Palayan, Nueva Ecija.
Zagala said in his speech, Gapay "commended the regiment for their contribution to the Army’s COVID-19 efforts, as well as their conduct of aerial reconnaissance and maritime patrols over Northern Luzon, Eastern Mindanao, and Western Mindanao Command."
"Gapay also congratulated the regiment in their modernization efforts, particularly in the training of additional aviators, rotary-wing pilots, multi-engine rating, and air traffic personnel," he said.
Zagala said the Army chief also noted that the unit's efforts in improving existing doctrines as a result of added capabilities and changing operational environment.
“President Quezon uttered these words 83 years ago but they currently speak about us: ‘Our Army is rapidly taking form as an agency equipped to provide for future Philippine security," Gapay said.
"Indeed, we are getting closer to our vision of a world-class Army that is a source of national pride, and I can see that in you,” he added. Robina Asido/DMS
