Gov’t employees’ bonuses to be given, says Palace
November 10, 2020
Malacanang assured on Tuesday that some 1.5 million government employees will receive their Christmas bonus and other incentives provided in the law.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the budget for these bonus and other perks have been included in the 2020 General Appropriations Act.
"Because that is in the law, that should be given and that is included in the 2020 budget that the Congress approves," he said in a virtual press briefing.
"So, there is no reason for the people in the government not to receive their Christmas pay," he added.
Roque said that even the government officials will receive the bonus.
Asked if President Rodrigo Duterte or any member of his Cabinet will donate their bonuses for those affected by the coronavirus disease or typhoons that recently hit the country, Roque said it would be up to the decision of each official.
Among the bonuses and incentives being received by government employees are 13th month pay, performance-based bonus, across-the-board P5,000 cash gift to each of them, and the productivity enhancement incentive. Celerina Monte/DMS
