Gov’t forces recover homemade bomb meant for troops in Maguindanao

Joint police and military forces recovered an improvised explosive device believed to be planted by members of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) Maguindanao on Saturday morning.
Chief Insp. Tara Leah Cuyco, ARMM Regional Police spokesperson, said based on initial report the homemade bomb was recovered in the vicinity of Brgy. Kuden Talitay around 8:03 am
Cuyco said the improvised bomb was believed to be planted by unidentified members of BIFF targeting government troops passing the area.
“The improvised explosive device is composed of 60 mm mortar rounds,” she said.
Cuyco said the government authorities also found a Cherry Mobile phone near the improvised bomb believed to be used as the trigger of the improvised bomb.
“Safety procedure was conducted by explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team of Philippine Army (at) response time (of) 8:45 am,” she said.
“The IED is now in the custody of EOD (Explosives and Ordnance) team for proper disposition, (while) investigation (is still) ongoing,” she added. Robina Asido/DMS
