Group claims park officials assigned smaller space in Luneta for rally
September 20, 2017
A group which has set protests against the tyranny and alleged extrajudicial killings under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte said the space "assigned" to them in Thursday's rally at the Lapu-Lapu Monument at the Luneta. "The space in Luneta 'assigned' to the MAT rally at the Lapu-Lapu monument is not large enough to safely accommodate the tens of thousands expected to join the Sept 21 protests," a statement of the Movement Against Tyranny said Wednesday. "Despite having been informed of our rally, they instead assigned the Burnham Green, which can accommodate a crowd of 100,000, to the Lions Club for an event that has only 2,000 participants," the group said. The group has been informed by Lions Club officials they will abide by the National Parks Development Committee's decision. DMS
