September 27, 2017
Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial supported the decision of a House of Representatives committee to legalize using marijuana for medical purposes.
"We are for making it available for restricted and highly regulated medical use," said Ubial of the decision made by the House Committee on Health on Tuesday.
"It is like what we have for morphine and other highly addictive drugs," said Ubial.
The Philippine Cannabis Compassion Society expressed hopes the bill will become law.
"We hope that we gather enough votes in the plenary to pass the bill in the House of Representatives," said the society. The society is a group of advocates, mostly patients and parents of children needing medical marijuana. DMS
