Health professionals urge gov’t to go slow in easing lockdown
September 22, 2020
The Health Professionals Alliance Against COVID-19 (HPAAC) is urging the government to take it slow in relaxing the community lockdown.
In a virtual press briefing Tuesday, HPAAC co-convenor Maricar Limpin said: "Our recommendation is don't immediately loosen up quarantine measures because (COVID-19) cases are still high. The decrease is only starting.''
Limpin said the government should wait until COVID-19 cases have gone down before easing lockdowns.
"We may become complacent and think that the battle is already over. Look at what is happening now, we are still at GCQ (general community quarantine) and yet many still wear face masks but without face shields and do not maintain physical distancing," said Limpin. DMS
