Highway Patrol Group giving helmets to motorbike riders
July 15, 2020
Police officers have been giving helmets to motorcycle riders who are caught not wearing the protective gear on the road.
The Highway Patrol Group (HPG) have been doing this for more than a week to motorcycle riders whom were accosted for violating Republic Act 10054 or the Motorcycle Helmet Act.
Police Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz, the HPG director, said the initiative is part of their “May Ticket Ka Na, May Helmet Ka Pa” program to promote road safety.
Cruz said a donor whom he did not identify gave 300 helmets to the HPG but instead of distributing these to policemen, they gave it to motorists, who could not afford to buy helmets.
So far, the HPG has given more than 20 helmets in Quezon, Cavite and Nueva Ecija. DMS
