House approves 2021 national budget on second reading, suspends session until Nov 16

The House of Representatives on Tuesday approved on second reading the proposed P4.5 trillion national budget for 2021 and suspended its session until November 16.
The move, led by Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano was unexpected.
The House of Representatives also moved to terminate the period of debates, as well as the period of amendments for House Bill (HB) 7727, or the national budget.
The House of Representatives also created a small group tasked to accept committee and individual amendments to prepare the General Appropriations Bill (GAB) on third and final reading approval next month.
The members are House Majority Leader and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez, Deputy Speaker and Camarines Sur Rep. Luis LRay Villafuerte Jr., Reps. Eric Go Yap (ACT-CIS), Jose Antonio Sy-Alvarado (Bulacan), Junie Cua (Quirino), Henry Oaminal (Misamis Occidental), Joey Sarte Salceda (Albay), Stella Luz A. Quimbo for the House Minority (Marikina City), Mike Defensor (Anakalusugan), Manuel Jose Dalipe (Zamboanga City), Teodorico Haresco Jr. (Aklan), Elpidio Barzaga Jr., and Elenita Milagros Ermita-Buhain (Batangas).
