House cites need for PUVs route rationalization before modernization
November 4, 2017
Members of the House committee on transportation chaired by Rep. Cesar Sarmiento of Catanduanes stressed the need to rationalize routes of public utility vehicles ( PUV) before the government embarks on a modernization program.
Sarmiento, in a statement Saturday, explained government should first rationalize routes to determine the demand in particular routes and decide on the type and number of PUVs that will service such need.
"The funds to be borrowed will be wasted if we do not know what kind and how much are units of PUVs are needed at a particular route. Route rationalization therefore precedes any PUV modernization program," said Sarmiento. DMS
