If Duterte wants to undergo drug test, it’s on his own volition, not because of anybody: Palace

President Rodrigo Duterte would undergo a drug test if he wants to and not because somebody challenged or told him, Malacanang said on Thursday.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque was reacting on the statement of opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes IV who dared Duterte and members of his family to undergo a drug test to prove that he was serious on his war on drugs.

Roque, in a press briefing, said he was not sure if he would respond to Trillanes' challenge because the Palace usually ignores him.

"But now, I don't know what I'm going to say to him other than the people elected the President. If the President wants to undergo a drug test, he will do it, but he need not be ordered by anyone," he said.

One of Duterte's sons, former Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, was previously dragged into the P6.4 billion smuggled drugs from China. The younger Duterte denied any involvement on the matter. Celerina Monte/DMS
