Incoming PDEA chief says alleged drug links of eight politicians being checked
August 29, 2017
The incoming chief of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Tuesday at least eight politicians from Central Luzon are under investigation for their alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
Chief Superintendent Aaron Aquino, outgoing director of the Central Luzon Regional Police Office, said:" We continue to validate.”
Aquino said the officials are five mayors, two congressmen and a vice governor. He did not reveal their names.
Aquino, who is set retiring from the police on Sept. 6, vowed a relentless anti-drug campaign.
“We will not stop until every single sachet of shabu is wiped out, every drug pusher is arrested and every drug user is reformed,” he said.
President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Aquino, replacing PDEA director general Isidro Lapena, who was chosen chief of the Bureau of Customs. DMS
