Infra damage from ”Rolly” P 11 billion: NDRRMC

Damage to infrastructure from Super Typhoon ''Rolly'' exceeded P11 billion, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Friday.

NDRRMC recorded a total of P11,228,895,685.78 worth of damage to infrastructures in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Central Visayas, Cordillera Administrative Region and NCR.

Damage to agriculture in Bicol, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas,  Calabarzon, Mimaropa and NCR is at P2,924,837,533, said NDRRMC.

The number of damaged house reached to 53,747 with 12,659 totally destroyed and 41,088 partially damaged.

Deaths have gone down to 22. Three remain missing while 165 persons were injured.

Mark Timbal, NDRRMC spokesman, said the recorded number of fatalities decrease after the data was validated by the Department of Health.

"We apologize. Tthe fatality (in) Rizal province was removed because it was determined that the circumstance of death is not related to Super Typhoon Rolly. We only have 22," he said.

On the other hand, the number of affected population is 312,583 families or 1,197,888 persons. Being served inside and outside evacuation centers are 44,524 families or 171,531 individuals, said NDRRMC.

The NDRRMC also noted that Mulanay in Quezon was placed under state of calamity because of ''Rolly''.

NDRRMC Executive Director Ricardo Jalad said amid the response implemented to help the victims of Super Typhoon ''Rolly'',  different government agencies are preparing for the possible effect of Tropical Storm ''Siony''.

"We continue our preparation for Tropical Storm 'Siony' while we also continue our response to the areas affected by Super Typhoon 'Rolly'," said in a virtual public briefing on Friday.

"The NDRRMC has already issued advisories to the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council in Regions I, II and Cordillera. The DILG which is the primary agency for preparation has already activated its operation 'Listo protocol' that will guide the local government units," said Jalad.
