September 10, 2020
The intelligence chief of the Norzagaray Municipal Police Station was arrested by the Philippine National Police- Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) last Wednesday for extortion.
Police Brig. General Ronald Lee, IMEG director, said Police Staff Sergeant Jonathan Dela Cruz was arrested around 5:30 pm inside the police station where he was assigned during an entrapment operation.
“The motorcycle being used by the suspect was found to be not included in the inventory of items they confiscated during a drug operation last August 26,” Lee said.
“It was learned that the accused took custody of the motorbike and demanded P10,000 for its release,” he added.
Lee said their ongoing crackdown on rogue cops will spare no one, police commissioned officers or non-commissioned officers and other public servants included.
“We are assuring the public that there is no letup in our campaign against misfits and scalawags in the force... Everyone should know what to do and do it right,” Lee said.
