Labor department orders Jollibee Foods Corp. to regularize 6,000 workers

Over 6,000 workers of Jollibee Foods Corp. are set to be regularized after an order was issued by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
In a statement, Labor Undersecretary Joel Maglunsod said National Capital Region director Henry John Jalbuena has ordered the fast food giant to regularize 6,482 workers deployed by its 2 contractors.
“This is part of the government’s relentless campaign to stop illegal work contractualization practices,” said Maglunsod.
Maglunsgod said the firm was directed to refund illegally collected payments to 426 affected workers in the amount of P15,432,305.00 supposedly for Coop Share, Coop Christmas Party Paluwagan Fund, and Coop Savings Fund.
Five contractors were ordered to return unlawful wage deductions, bonds, donations, shares, and other illegal payment collections to 412 affected workers with a total amount of P4,137,158.15.
Prior to Jollibee, DOLE earlier ordered Burger King to regularize 704 workers deployed by its 3 contractors. DMS
