Labor dep’t orders PLDT to regularize 7,306 workers
May 3, 2018
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said the order for the regularization of 7,306 workers of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) is final and executory.
In a resolution signed on April 24, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III dismissed the appeal of PLDT and its 35 contractors for lack of merit.
This means PLDT and its contractors should grant their employees regular employment status and pay workers’ monetary benefits amounting to P51.6 million.
PLDT earlier filed an appeal against the compliance order issued by the labor department's National Capitol Region's office last year to give regular jobs to its workers.
The labor department found PLDT to be in collaboration with agencies engaged in labor-only contracting. DMS
