Labor Usec up for dismissal if he didn’t resign: Roque
April 19, 2018
Labor Undersecretary Dominador Say could have been fired from his post if he did not resign, Malacanang said on Thursday.
In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Say could have been dismissed for his alleged involvement in corruption.
"You know to be candid, if Usec. Say did not resign, he would have been fired," he said.
Asked why Say could have been fired, he said, "Corruption that the President knows about. Corruption relating to activities of labor recruiters, apparently, and the Department of Labor and Employment."
"I was told already that he’s the next on the chopping block. But I was awaiting orders on when to announce it. I did not have to announce it, because he resigned. But it was important still to say it, because in his resignation letter he said it was a matter of difference over ‘endo’. Well, I was just awaiting instruction to make that announcement on Usec. Say," he added.
Say resigned after he was accused of being pro-management, which he denied.
He has said he quit because he did not want Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III to be affected by the criticisms against him. Celerina Monte/DMS
